A father sold his only source of income — his camera — in a desperate attempt to save his daughter’s life. Mohammad Alam, a photographer from Cox’s Bazar, had been struggling to arrange treatment for his nine-month-old daughter, Suraiya, who was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital with pneumonia caused by H1N1.

Suraiya had spent four days in the ICU, where doctors advised Alam to urgently arrange a high-flow oxygen pipe for her treatment. After hours of searching, he finally managed to secure the equipment around noon. But when he returned to the hospital, he was met with heartbreaking news — his daughter had passed away moments earlier. Her grieving mother, who was at the hospital, broke down in tears beside her child.
