Dhaka University has announced the results of the undergraduate admission test for the Arts, Law, and Social Sciences Unit for the 2024-25 academic year, revealing that over 93% of candidates failed to qualify.

A total of 103,611 students appeared for the test, competing for 2,934 seats, but only 7,553 candidates passed, resulting in an overall pass rate of just 7.29%. The results were published this afternoon (20 January) on the university’s admission website, admission.eis.du.ac.bd.

Professor Md Shariful Islam, convener of the admission test committee, confirmed to The Business Standard that only a small fraction of applicants met the qualifying criteria.

Of the available seats, 962 are reserved for science-background students, 278 for business studies, and 1,694 for humanities students. The results were prepared through three separate merit lists based on academic backgrounds.

According to a university press release, successful candidates can fill in their detailed application and subject preference forms from 3:00 PM on 27 January to 3:00 PM on 5 February.

Applicants seeking admission under various quota categories must collect quota-specific forms from the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences between 1 and 5 February, complete them, and submit within the stipulated period.

Candidates wishing to apply for result re-scrutiny may do so by paying the prescribed fee between 21 and 27 January 2026 at the Faculty of Social Sciences Dean’s Office.
