Over 14,500 children have been killed, and an estimated 17,000 have been separated from their families during the ongoing Gaza conflict, leaving many in deep trauma and uncertainty. Among them are the Masri cousins, whose parents were killed in an Israeli bombing in Beit Lahia. These four children were left alone in the rubble until they were eventually reunited with their grandmother, Kawther al-Masri, at the al-Mawasi tent camp in southern Gaza. Despite the reunion, the children remain profoundly affected, struggling with the psychological toll of war and loss.

The conflict has caused widespread displacement, tearing families apart as they fled the bombings. Humanitarian organizations like UNICEF are working tirelessly to reunite children with their families, but the challenges are overwhelming. Bombings, checkpoints, and military zones have significantly slowed efforts to locate and reunite separated children. To date, only 63 children have been reunited with their families through UNICEF's initiatives, underscoring the magnitude of the crisis.

For many children, the war has brought the loss of both parents and their homes. Some, like the Masri cousins, are too young to fully comprehend their trauma but live in constant fear, haunted by the sounds of aircraft and memories of destruction. In this chaotic and perilous environment, organizations such as UNICEF and the ICRC are striving to provide stability and care. However, the road to recovery remains long and uncertain.
