Ashraful Alam, the young man who recently went viral in a video showing him extorting money for car parking in the Jigatola area under Dhanmondi Police Station in the capital, has been placed on a three-day remand.

The order came on Wednesday, April 16, from Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M A Azharul Islam. Ashraful was brought before the court in the afternoon, where the investigating officer submitted a petition seeking a seven-day remand for further investigation. In response, the defense counsel appealed for the cancellation of the remand and also sought bail for the accused. However, the prosecution strongly opposed the bail plea.

Following the hearing, the court rejected the bail petition and granted a three-day remand for Ashraful. The information was later confirmed by the general registration office of Dhanmondi Police Station.
