Speaking on a podcast with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, released on Friday, PM Modi explained that his approach focuses on accelerating the pace of governance by reducing bureaucratic burdens. To achieve this, he introduced new ministries for skill development, cooperatives, and fisheries. "When I speak of minimum government, my intent is to eliminate redundancies," Modi said. "We removed 40,000 outdated compliances to streamline operations. Without this, departments would repeatedly demand the same information. If one department has it, others can use it too." He further highlighted the repeal of 1,500 obsolete laws and changes to laws that previously criminalized certain actions, reflecting his vision of efficient governance. Discussing India’s technological advancements, PM Modi said the country has successfully democratized technology, setting an example for the world. "In just 30 seconds, I can transfer funds to 100 million farmers or provide cylinder subsidies to 130 million people. This is the power of a tech-driven era. We have established an innovation commission and an innovation fund to foster technological growth," he remarked. PM Modi also spoke about the evolving global perception of India. He recalled a statement he made in 2005 after being denied a U.S. visa, saying, "One day, the world will stand in line for an Indian visa." Reflecting on that prediction, he noted, "Now, in 2025, that time has come. India’s global standing has changed. I used to tell NRIs that they would regret not returning to India because the world was shifting." He shared a moment from a recent visit to Kuwait, where a laborer asked him about the development of an international airport in his district. Modi described this aspiration as a driving force behind India’s vision to become a leading nation by 2047. On the issue of global conflicts, PM Modi clarified that India’s stance is not one of neutrality but of advocating peace. "During the Ukraine crisis, we did not remain neutral; we stood for peace. I conveyed the same message to Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Palestine, and Israel. This approach has enhanced India’s credibility on the global stage," he said. Highlighting India’s humanitarian efforts, he recalled how the Indian Air Force played a pivotal role in evacuating not just Indian citizens but also those from neighboring countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. "When Indians are in trouble anywhere in the world, it is our responsibility to help them. Acts like these inspire people to contribute positively to society," he concluded.
