Milestone School and College teacher Nishi Akter has finally returned home after surviving the devastating Milestone aircraft crash that left her severely injured. For the past 34 days, she had been receiving intensive treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. On Sunday afternoon (24 August), doctors discharged her from the hospital, bringing immense relief and joy to her family, colleagues, and well-wishers.

According to the Joint Director of the Burn Institute, Dr. Md. Maruful Islam, Nishi had to undergo 21 visits to the operation theatre, which included five major surgeries to treat her critical burn injuries. He praised her indomitable courage, patience, and resilience throughout the long recovery process. Dr. Maruful also highlighted that her remarkable improvement was the result of a collective effort by a large medical team, involving surgeons, anesthesiologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and many other health professionals who worked tirelessly to ensure her survival.

The tragic Milestone aircraft accident had initially left 57 victims admitted to the Burn Institute, among whom 20 students tragically lost their lives. At present, 21 patients are still undergoing treatment, with 2–3 of them reported to be in critical condition. So far, doctors have managed to release 15 survivors, including Nishi Akter, while relentless round-the-clock efforts continue to save the rest of the injured patients.
