A Struggling Mother from Mymensingh Inspires a Nation Through Her Children’s Success.

The life story of Adorini Sarker, a resilient mother from Achim Bazar in Phulbari Upazila, Mymensingh, has become a beacon of inspiration. Despite poverty and hardship, she raised four children who are now established citizens serving the country. Recognized for her extraordinary contribution, she was awarded the “Successful Mother” title for Mymensingh in 2024 on Rokeya Day, and in 2025, received the “Ratnogorva Mother” honor.

As a child, Adorini swam across rivers to attend school. Though she passed her matriculation in 1977, she married a young unemployed man due to financial constraints. Living in extreme hardship with her husband and four children, she lost her first child but persevered. Renting a small house, she raised poultry, taught without pay, and walked kilometers to school, ensuring her children’s education.

Her eldest son, Uttam Kumar Sarker, is a UPHC officer at Jamalpur Medical College Hospital; her younger son, Ujjal Kumar Sarker, is a medical officer at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Her daughter Suborna Sarker, recommended in the 43rd BCS, works at Shaheed Smriti Government College, and youngest daughter Protima Sarker works at NTV.

Despite personal sacrifices and unfulfilled educational dreams, Adorini’s dedication shaped her children into successful professionals. She emphasizes that her greatest achievement is seeing them self-reliant, educated, and contributing to society. Her story reflects the strength and courage of struggling mothers across Bangladesh.
