Students taking India’s Class 12 mathematics board exam on Monday encountered an unexpected surprise. When they scanned a QR code printed on the question paper, instead of reaching an authentication page, it redirected them to the 1987 music video of “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

The exam was part of the nationwide board tests organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), one of India’s largest education boards. Every year, millions of students in India and abroad—including those studying in CBSE-affiliated schools in the UAE—participate in these examinations.
