He also claimed that personal grievances, including not being appointed Army Chief, fueled his actions against the family. According to investigative sources, Masud confessed that there were plans to arrest and mentally pressure Tarique Rahman, believing it would force former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to accept certain conditions and leave the country. He further stated that both Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman were detained to exert psychological pressure on the Zia family to withdraw from politics, but the strategy ultimately failed due to their resistance.
