A 24-year-old youth named Noyon Chandra Mondal was caught attempting to deliver weed to his cousin, a detainee at Dhaka Central Jail located in Keraniganj. The incident took place on Saturday around 1:30 PM near the main entrance of the prison in the Rajendrapur area. According to reports, prison guards became suspicious of Noyon’s behavior during a routine security check. Upon searching him, they discovered two small packets of weed hidden in the back pocket of his pants.

Sources inside the jail stated that Noyon had claimed he was there to visit his cousin, Sinhaat Mondal, who has been in custody for several days. However, when questioned by the guards, Noyon gave inconsistent and suspicious answers, which led to a more thorough body search. Following the discovery, the police were notified. South Keraniganj police later confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against Noyon under the Narcotics Control Act. Despite several attempts, the jail superintendent could not be reached for comment.
