In London on 25–26 April, around 100 Italian chefs came together to set a new Guinness World Record by creating a 1,445 ft (440.6 metres) tiramisu at Chelsea Town Hall.

The record-breaking dessert was led by Mirko Ricci, who previously held a similar record in 2017. He said the giant tiramisu was made as a tribute to the King and the Royal Family, according to the BBC.

The chefs used an enormous quantity of ingredients, including 50,000 ladyfingers and 3,000 eggs. The original goal was to make a 300-metre tiramisu, but the final creation far exceeded expectations.

The London tiramisu surpassed the previous record of 273.5 metres, set in Milan by Galbani. Ricci, who already holds five Guinness World Records, first set a tiramisu record in Italy in 2017, before it was broken in 2019.

Speaking to the BBC, Ricci said tiramisu is Italy’s most iconic exported dessert and explained that choosing London over Italy was a gesture of appreciation toward the United Kingdom. He described the achievement as a shared success among all the chefs involved.

“It was finished with a golden crown on top,” he added, referencing the Royal Family.

Chef Carmelo Carnevale showcased the prepared slices, each measuring about 8 cm high and 15 cm wide, ready for assembly during the event.

Guinness World Records officials carefully monitored the entire process to ensure accuracy, quality, and that the dessert remained fully edible throughout the attempt.
