Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has described the country's law and order situation as "satisfactory" but acknowledged that improvements are still needed. Speaking to the media on Monday after a Ministry of Home Affairs core committee meeting, he noted that in Bangladesh's 53 years of independence, no media outlet has ever reported that law and order are in a good state.

He pointed to recent advancements in law enforcement, saying that incidents like the one in Banasree are now reported much faster than before. "Earlier, it might have taken two days to learn about such incidents, but now information spreads instantly," he said. Measures are being discussed to prevent similar occurrences, as the goal is to ensure no such incident happens again.

When asked about new directives for law enforcers, Jahangir stated that people would notice an increased presence of security forces by night. He also addressed calls for his resignation, saying, "Since taking office, my funeral has already been held, and I’ve even been buried," referring to the criticism he has faced.

Regarding the need for a 3 AM press conference, he pointed out that journalists' ability to gather at such late hours reflects a shift from previous regimes. He emphasized that both the media and the Home Ministry are now working around the clock.

On law enforcement efforts, he stated that while the police have become more active, there is still room for improvement. He defended "Operation Devil Hunt," explaining that its purpose is to ensure swift action in criminal cases. He highlighted recent arrests in Rajshahi and disciplinary actions against officers who delayed filing reports, stating that accountability within the force has improved significantly.
