Earlier, the protesting students had warned that if ministry and army officials didn’t meet with the university administration by 1:30pm, they would besiege the Secretariat. At around 2pm, a letter from the Secretariat addressed the handover of the second campus project to the army. In response, JnU Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmin confirmed that a meeting between the Ministry of Education, UGC, and the Ministry of Defense was scheduled for Wednesday. The final decision and roadmap to address the demands would be determined during that meeting, according to the JnU administration. Despite this, the students proposed amending the Ministry’s letter. They demanded a written commitment to meet their demands and declared they would continue their hunger strike until this was provided. Failing to receive this assurance, the students started their march toward the Secretariat. On Sunday, the students began their hunger strike as part of their three-point movement. Their demands include: transferring the second campus to the army, providing temporary housing for students, and offering housing allowances to at least 70% of students until permanent accommodations are arranged.
