Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, criticized the Awami League’s right to participate in elections, stating that they have no moral authority due to their past actions against the nation. He emphasized that if they truly believed in democracy, they would have conducted fair elections in 2014, 2018, and 2024. Rahman spoke at a discussion meeting on October 28, 2024, commemorating the events of October 28, 2006, which he described as a turning point for the country’s politics.

He warned that those involved in wrongdoing, such as theft and violence, are fleeing the country and that true politicians should not escape but instead serve their nation with integrity. He called for accountability for those he termed "fascists," asserting that a trial process should begin to address these past injustices.
