Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has been ranked the top private university in the country in the Research.com Best Universities in Bangladesh 2025/2026 Ranking. The university secured 3rd place overall among all public and private universities in Bangladesh and was placed 2,137th globally.

According to the ranking, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University secured the top national position, followed by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, while IUB completed the top three. Research.com reported that IUB was ranked based on 332 publications, an institutional H-index of 118, and two qualified scholars.

The university also achieved the No. 1 position in Bangladesh in the field of Microbiology and ranked 527th globally in that discipline. This recognition was supported by the work of Prof. Dr. Shah M. Faruque. The achievement follows IUB’s recent top ranking among private universities in Bangladesh in the Nature Index. University leaders said the recognition reflects IUB’s growing research impact and commitment to international research standards.
