Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet has approved a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, bringing to an end more than 460 days of conflict in Gaza. Throughout this period, Israeli forces reportedly killed over 46,788 Palestinians and injured 110,453.

The agreement was confirmed early on Saturday after a six-hour cabinet meeting. Netanyahu’s office issued a statement confirming the deal, which outlines the framework for hostages’ return. The exchange process will begin on Sunday. Although the deal faced strong opposition from hardliners within Netanyahu's coalition, 24 ministers voted in favor, while eight opposed it. The Israeli security cabinet had already approved the ceasefire on Friday.

Under the agreement, the first six-week phase involves the release of captives held in Gaza in exchange for Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons. On Saturday, Israeli authorities released a list of 737 Palestinian detainees set for release in the first phase, scheduled for after 4 p.m. local time (14:00 GMT) on Sunday. The list reportedly includes members of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Fatah, with some individuals serving life sentences, according to The Times of Israel.
