The Israeli military has launched large-scale ground operations across both northern and southern Gaza under the name "Operation Gideon's Chariots." This marks the most intense offensive since the ceasefire in March was broken. The operation is aimed at capturing territory and forcing the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

On Sunday, heavy Israeli bombardment killed at least 140 Palestinians, including numerous children. The strikes led to the shutdown of all public hospitals in northern Gaza after several were directly hit. Meanwhile, Israel is pressuring Hamas to agree to a temporary ceasefire that would focus on securing the release of hostages, but not necessarily bring an end to the conflict. On the other hand, Hamas continues to demand a complete Israeli withdrawal and a permanent resolution to the war as part of any agreement.

Jabaliya resident Abu Mohammad Yassin, who fled the assault on foot and by donkey cart, voiced his despair: "When the Jews want a truce, Hamas refuses, and when Hamas wants a truce, the Jews refuse it. Both sides agree to exterminate the Palestinian people. For God's sake, have mercy on us. We are tired of displacement."

As tens of thousands of Israeli reservists are newly deployed, the country’s military chief, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, announced that their strategy involves “dissecting” the Gaza Strip, with ground operations continuing across both the northern and southern areas of the territory.
