Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Bangladesh has stepped up efforts to ensure a steady fuel supply through various strategic measures. The government sought guarantees from Iran for the safe passage of its oil and LNG vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route.

Iran has confirmed that Bangladeshi ships can transit the strait, provided they notify Iranian authorities beforehand, easing immediate concerns about fuel imports, according to energy officials. In the meantime, a ship carrying 27,000 tonnes of diesel arrived at Chattogram port from Singapore yesterday, and four additional vessels carrying a total of 1,20,205 tonnes of fuel are expected to dock later this week.
