In West Bengal, India, a youth named Rezaul Islam Mondal was assaulted on a train from Gede to Sealdah by 10 to 12 Hindutva extremists. According to The Observerpost, Rezaul had traveled to Bangladesh with four companions to attend the Ijtema and was attacked upon his return. The assailants pulled his beard, threatened to throw him off the train, and insulted him by calling him a 'Bangladeshi.'

Rezaul, an M.Tech student at Aliah University, said the incident began when a passenger asked him to move his trolley bag. He complied without protest, but soon after, the extremist group tried to force him out of his seat. When he resisted, they started abusing him, accusing him of being a foreigner, and launched a violent attack.

Despite repeatedly asserting his Indian citizenship, the assault continued for over an hour. The attackers pulled his beard, removed his cap, and subjected him to further harassment.
