Manipur, one of India’s Seven Sisters, has once again become a center of unrest. On Friday night, the bodies of three individuals were found in the Jiribam area, who were reportedly abducted by Christian Kuki insurgents.

On Saturday (November 16), hundreds of people gathered in Imphal Valley, the state capital, with members of the Hindu Meitei community protesting on the streets, demanding justice. During the protests, they set fire to the homes of two ministers and three legislators.

According to a Reuters report on Sunday (November 17), an indefinite curfew has been imposed in Imphal to manage the situation, while internet services have been suspended across several districts.

Indian media outlet NDTV reported that following the attacks on the houses of ministers and legislators, protesters tried to forcibly enter the residence of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. To control the situation, police and security forces deployed tear gas. The curfew remains in place, and internet services have been suspended in seven districts.
