Actress Nazia Haque Orsha has distinguished herself from many contemporary performers through her dedication to her craft. She believes that an artist’s responsibility is far greater than that of an ordinary person. In her words, “If there is an artist tag, the responsibility increases two to three times. I want to leave an impression with my work, because the audience is influenced by the characters I portray.”

Orsha recently shared her thoughts on the growing fascination of youth with digital platforms like TikTok while on the set of the serial drama Middle Class Family, directed by Ehsan Elahi Bappi at Khnanikaloy, Uttara, Dhaka. In an interview with Prothom Alo, she noted that it is natural for young people to gravitate toward TikTok in a country where even master’s graduates struggle to find jobs. “If I can earn dollars just by copying others, why not?” she remarked.

She also expressed concern over the lack of new creative developments in Bangladesh. “We haven’t seen extraordinary writers after Humayun Ahmed or notable painters for a long time. Many things are tabooed, so children don’t get opportunities to grow,” Orsha explained.

Observing children engrossed in mobile phones, video games, and TikTok, she acknowledged that earning from such platforms makes them appear smart. Orsha emphasized that while young people securing income through TikTok achieve financial independence, prolonged unemployment after higher education could have serious consequences.

Orsha first gained attention five years ago in the web film Beyond the Network, playing Tania. While she isn’t ready to reveal upcoming film projects, she promises good news for her fans soon.
