Abdul Basid, an imam from Assam’s Sribhumi district, saved seven Hindu passengers after spotting their car sinking into a pond early Tuesday. The passengers were asleep with the windows closed when the vehicle slid off the road. Noticing the headlights underwater, Imam Basid quickly announced the emergency through the mosque’s microphone, prompting villagers to rush in, break the windows, and rescue everyone. His act of humanity has been widely praised, with Basid saying it was simply about saving lives, not religion.
