Police have recovered the skeleton of a man named Sumon Hossain from the Uttarpara area of Nagon, 19 months after he went missing.
According to police, Sumon left his home around 11:45 pm on June 22, 2024, and never returned. His family filed a general diary (GD) with Arai Police Station the following day. Over a year later, on November 15, police recovered a human skeleton from a bush in Uttarpara. The clothes found at the site matched those Sumon was wearing when he disappeared. Later, on November 16, Sumon’s wife filed a murder case with Arai Police Station, accusing unknown persons.
During interrogation, police arrested several suspects, including the deceased’s younger brother. Investigators said Sumon had an ongoing property dispute with his brother and sister-in-law. The plan to kill him was allegedly made in advance, and he was strangled to death. His body was then buried near his house to hide the crime. Police said the younger brother later confessed and revealed the burial site. It was later learned that the younger brother had earlier committed suicide.
