"I have killed my wife, Maksuda. I am at home. Take me to the police station." These were the words of Ibrahim Khan (37) after he murdered his wife, Maksuda Khatun (26), in Banshal. Following the crime, he called the police on Friday (January 24) around 4:30 PM. The incident occurred at house number 24 in Sikkatuli Lane, Nazira Bazar. Ibrahim used a hammer to strike Maksuda’s head, leading to her death. Officers from Banshal Police Station later arrived at the scene and arrested him.

Maksuda’s brother, Mostafizur Rahman, has since filed a murder case at Banshal Police Station.

After his arrest, Ibrahim Khan was interviewed by a reporter from Kalbela. Crying in distress, he confessed, “I loved my wife Maksuda deeply. We were both previously married to other people but had dreams of starting a new life together. We even have a one-year-old daughter, Bushra. But how could I accept her relationship with someone else? We often fought about this, and I had even informed her family.”

Ibrahim explained that their conflict escalated after Maksuda secretly met someone the day before. This led to another argument. “In the afternoon, I brought a hammer from the house to scare her and kept it in the table drawer. I didn’t mean to kill her,” he said, breaking down in tears.

When asked why he committed the murder, he said, “She started shouting at me. At that moment, I lost control. I can’t explain how it happened.”

Through tears, he expressed his anguish about their daughter. “My little girl was crying too. Yesterday, we celebrated Bushra’s first birthday. Who will care for her now?”

On why he didn’t try to flee and instead called the police, Ibrahim said, “I loved Maksuda so much. Now that she’s gone, what’s left for me to live for?”
