While buyers are pleased, sellers express concerns about potential losses when selling fish pieces weighing less than 250 grams. The official inauguration took place on October 10 at the Saheb Bazaar fish market, where leaders of the Rajshahi Business Coordination Council encouraged traders to participate. Currently, Hilsa fish weighing between 600 grams and one kilogram is priced from 1,000 to 2,200 taka, making it unaffordable for many. The initiative allows customers to purchase smaller quantities, such as 100, 200, or 250 grams, enabling more people to enjoy this popular fish. Sellers highlighted that selling fish in smaller pieces could benefit both buyers and sellers. Customers expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing the need for affordable access to Hilsa. Rajshahi Business Coordination Council leaders confirmed that fish will be sold at a consistent price per kilogram, even when cut. They urged buyers to report any sellers refusing to sell cut pieces.
