An FBI investigation has revealed that Sajeeb Wazed, the son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, owns eight luxury cars and has ties to five companies. The probe also uncovered that Hasina and Sajeeb allegedly laundered $300 million (around Tk 3,600 crore) to the United States and the United Kingdom. The FBI further reported significant irregularities in Sajeeb’s financial activities. Following these findings, Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an inquiry on December 22, 2024, into the money laundering claims involving Hasina and Sajeeb. The FBI report was submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division on April 23, 2023, and a copy was obtained by the ACC, according to officials.
