Newly released Epstein files reveal emails detailing the shipment of sacred cloth from the Kaaba in Mecca to the United States, facilitated through contacts linked to the United Arab Emirates, and delivered to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The correspondence, dated February and March 2017, shows Emirati businesswoman Aziza al-Ahmadi coordinating with a man named Abdullah al-Maari to send three pieces of the Kiswa—the black, gold-embroidered cloth covering Islam’s holiest site in Saudi Arabia. The Kiswa holds deep religious significance, with pieces from previous coverings treated as highly valuable artifacts.

The emails outline that the items were shipped via air freight from Saudi Arabia to Florida on British Airways, with coordination over invoices, customs, and U.S. delivery. The three pieces included: one from inside the Kaaba, one from the outer covering, and a third unused piece, categorized as “artwork” for shipment purposes.

Ahmadi highlighted the religious importance of the cloth in an email to Epstein: “The black piece was touched by minimum 10 million Muslims of different denominations, Sunni, Shia and others. They walk around the Kaaba seven rounds and every one tries to touch it, offering prayers, wishes, tears and hopes. Hoping after that all their prayers to be accepted.”

The shipment arrived at Epstein’s home in March 2017, long after he had served jail time and registered as a sex offender. The emails do not explain how Ahmadi knew Epstein or why the pieces were sent to him.

Further emails show Ahmadi checking on Epstein following Hurricane Irma in September 2017, after his private island, Little Saint James, sustained heavy damage. She corresponded with Epstein’s secretary, asking about the situation. The secretary described extensive structural and landscape damage but said the interiors were mostly intact. Ahmadi responded: “Promise to send new tent ;)”

The files also include an email from Epstein’s assistant, Lesley Groff, sending Ahmadi a DNA testing kit, though its purpose is unclear. Epstein seldom communicated directly with Ahmadi; in one instance, she asked Groff if she could visit his New York home briefly to say goodbye and wish him a happy birthday.

Separately, an FBI memo released on Friday states that Epstein worked with U.S. and Israeli intelligence. According to the memo, “Epstein was close to the former Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak, and trained as a spy under him.”
