In response to demands from teachers and students, the Ministry of Education has announced the closure of schools during Ramadan. The revised holiday schedule was published on Wednesday (February 18).

According to the new notice, lower secondary and secondary schools will remain closed from বৃহস্পতিবার (February 19) until March 26. As March 26 falls on a Thursday, teachers and staff will enjoy an extended break until March 28.

Earlier, a senior official of the ministry told The Daily Campus that the newly formed government could decide to keep schools closed during Ramadan. On Sunday, the High Court ordered schools to remain shut throughout the fasting month following a writ petition. Although an appeal was filed against the order and a stay created confusion, the revised schedule has now clarified the matter.

Primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges had already observed a five-day break due to the 13th National Parliamentary Election, a referendum, and Shivratri. Classes resumed last Monday.

Meanwhile, madrasas began their Eid holidays during the election break and will remain closed until March 28, according to their academic calendar. Colleges have also started their Eid vacation from Wednesday, with classes set to resume on March 29.
