Dr. Muhammad Yunus, head of the interim government, has been named one of the top 10 personalities in the 24th edition of Nature magazine. The recognition highlights significant contributions to science, technology, engineering, and medicine. Yunus, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, was invited by students to lead Bangladesh after the overthrow of an authoritarian government, marking a major challenge in his six-decade career. Known for his groundbreaking work in microcredit, Yunus pioneered the concept while a professor at Chittagong University in the 1970s. He founded Grameen Bank in 1983, demonstrating how microcredit can uplift the poor. Despite criticism, his model gained global recognition. Yunus, now in his eighties, remains physically and mentally sharp.
