A doctor at Bangladesh Eye Hospital in Dhaka mistakenly operated on the right eye of a one-and-a-half-year-old child instead of the left, leading to her arrest. The incident occurred after the family brought the child in for treatment of a dirt-like object in his left eye. Following pre-surgery procedures, the child was taken to the operating theater under anesthesia. However, upon regaining consciousness, the family realized the operation had been performed on the wrong eye.

The child’s parents expressed outrage, with his father calling for justice, stating that if it had been a major surgery, the consequences could have been life-threatening. Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Anwar Hossain confirmed that the doctor, Shahedara Begum, was arrested from her residence on Elephant Road, and legal proceedings are underway.
