- Nine years after the murder of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a new DNA test has revealed the presence of another person’s blood on her clothing. Earlier in 2017, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reported finding semen from three men on her garments. Recently, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) reviewed the samples and uncovered this additional genetic evidence alongside the previous findings.

Tonu went missing on March 20, 2016, inside Comilla Cantonment while returning from a tutoring session, and her body was later found in a nearby forest the same night. The case has passed through several investigative agencies over the past decade. In a recent development, the PBI obtained remand for a suspect to compare his DNA with the existing profiles.
