A disabled van driver, Md. Mosharraf Hossain (61), from Mathpara in Kumarkhali municipality, Kushtia, has fallen into severe hardship after his only source of income was stolen while he was praying at a mosque.

On June 2, he left his van in front of Jotmora Boro Jame Mosque in Jaduboyra Union and went to offer Maghrib prayers. After finishing prayers, he discovered that his van, worth around 65,000 taka, had been stolen. Despite searching different places, he failed to recover it and later filed a complaint with Kumarkhali Police Station on June 3. Police have begun an investigation.

Mosharraf, who was injured in a road accident three years ago and now walks with difficulty, used to earn 500–600 taka daily by driving the van. He now lives in a poor condition with his sick mother, wife, and unemployed son in a tin house. The family is struggling to afford food and medical expenses, as several members are ill.

Relatives and neighbors say the family is in extreme distress and cannot afford a new van. Mosque authorities confirmed CCTV footage shows the theft, but the suspect is not yet identified. Local officials and police have promised assistance and investigation support.
