President Biden temporarily transferred power to Vice President Kamala Harris for 85 minutes while he underwent a routine colonoscopy under anesthesia, marking her as the first woman to hold presidential powers briefly. Biden’s doctor reported he is healthy and fit, despite minor age-related stiffness. His medical examination, on the eve of his 79th birthday, showed a benign polyp removal, with Biden returning to the White House in good spirits. The transfer of power followed constitutional procedure, as done in similar situations for past presidents.
