The demonstrations have caused severe traffic congestion, particularly affecting office-goers returning home. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, students began occupying roads around 7:30 PM. Dhaka College students blocked the Science Laboratory and Shahbagh intersections, while students from Government Bangla College protested at the Technical intersection, briefly lifting their blockade before resuming it. The traffic standstill has impacted Mirpur Road and surrounding areas, including Kalyanpur, Shyamoli, and Gabtoli, creating significant disruptions. Abdur Rahman, a Dhaka College student leading the movement to establish an independent institutional structure for the seven colleges, stated that their protest intensified after an insulting encounter with Dhaka University's Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mamun Ahmed. As a result, students extended the blockade to Science Lab, Nilkhet intersection, and Elephant Road.
