Mirajul Islam Khan, a central leader of Chhatra League known as Khan Shimul, was detained on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Friday night. He was caught by students near the new arts building at around 9:30 PM and later handed over to Ashulia police by the university's proctorial team. Shimul confirmed that he had been invited to the campus by Chhatra Dal leader Ahmad Ullah.

Witnesses reported that Shimul was walking around the campus when students recognized him and questioned his identity. At first, he tried to conceal his affiliation, but later admitted to being a former central leader of Chhatra League. The proctorial team detained him, and when Ahmad Ullah attempted to intervene, a verbal altercation ensued. Both individuals were subsequently handed over to the police.

University Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam commented, “A former central leader of the student organization from the previous government was on campus. Students involved in the mass uprising identified him and alerted us. For his safety, we handed him over to the police, and we trust that appropriate action will be taken if there are any legal matters against him.”
