The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has solved the murder case of Liton Mia (27), whose body was found in a paddy field in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. Shamim Ahmed (34), involved in the incident, was arrested and produced in court on Monday (September 15), where he confessed to the murder under Section 164.

Moulvibazar PBI Superintendent of Police (Additional DIG) Zafar Hossain confirmed the arrest. He stated that Shamim was detained from the Rajnagar police station area on Sunday afternoon. In court, Shamim admitted that Liton used to harass his sister and was also involved in local embezzlement and theft. For these reasons, 7–8 people participated in killing him.

A drive is currently underway to apprehend the other accused.

On the morning of September 9, police recovered Liton’s body with his throat slit near a mosque in Paschim Nandagram of Patan Ushar Union, Kamalganj Upazila. The deceased was the son of Sattar Mia of the village.
