In Bangladesh’s remote char islands, a groundbreaking program is empowering young girls with coding skills, opening doors to global careers. Launched in February 2025 by Friendship NGO and Dreamers Academy, the “Coding for Kids” initiative enrolls 44 boys and girls from isolated communities in Gaibandha, Kurigram, Chilmari, and Rowmari. The program offers these children a unique chance to develop digital skills, providing hope for a brighter future in the digital economy.

Targeting climate-affected areas where girls often face challenges in continuing education, the initiative teaches coding, programming, and automation, equipping students with valuable 21st-century skills. Friendship has integrated digital literacy into girls' education, preparing them for higher studies and remote job opportunities.

Among the 44 students, 21 girls from Friendship secondary schools are participating in the coding classes. The online sessions, led by expert instructors from Dreamers Academy, focus on Scratch, Python, and automation, with plans to guide students toward freelancing and remote job placements by 2027.

Ashfaq Zaman, co-founder of Dreamers Academy, emphasized the potential for these girls to become global freelancers or entrepreneurs, showing that technology can break barriers and transform lives, regardless of location or gender. This initiative is helping to build a more inclusive digital economy.
