BNP Moves to Form New Cabinet Blending Senior Leaders and Young Faces

After securing a majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has begun preparations to form a new government under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. Party insiders say the cabinet structure is almost finalised.

The proposed lineup aims to combine experienced senior figures with emerging young leaders. According to BNP sources, the goal is to fulfill election promises, speed up administrative reforms, introduce new policy directions, and build future leadership within the government.

Several former ministers from the 2001–2006 BNP government are reportedly being considered. Leaders known for maintaining clean reputations and handling ministries without controversy in the past may receive important portfolios.

Key positions under discussion include:

- Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir – Presidency

- Abdul Moyeen Khan – Speaker

- Mirza Abbas – Communications Ministry

- Salahuddin Ahmed – Local Government Ministry

- Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury – Commerce Ministry

- A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon – Education Ministry

Senior leaders Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku are also likely to receive cabinet roles. Nazrul Islam Khan may serve as Political Adviser to the Prime Minister.

## New Faces Expected in Cabinet

The new cabinet is also expected to feature several fresh faces, including:

- Ruhul Kabir Rizvi – Information and Broadcasting (Technocrat)

- Ismail Zabihullah – Public Administration (Technocrat)

- Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie – State Minister for Home Affairs

- Humayun Kabir – State Minister for Foreign Affairs (Technocrat)

- A Z M Zahid Hossain – under discussion

- Advocate Fazlur Rahman – Liberation War Affairs

## Allies May Join ‘National Government’

BNP has indicated that leaders from allied parties who took part in joint anti-government movements could be included as part of a broader “national government” initiative.

Names reportedly being considered include:

- Bobby Hajjaj

- Andalib Rahman Partha

- Nurul Haque Nur

- Reza Kibria – possibly Finance Ministry

- Mostafa Jamal Haider – under technocrat quota

Party leaders say final decisions will be announced soon once internal consultations are complete.
