A court has sent Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Shafiqur Rahman, his wife Bithi, and two others to jail in a case involving the abuse of a domestic worker. The order was issued on Monday (February 2).

The case concerns the torture of an 11-year-old domestic worker. The other accused are two household helpers at Shafiqur Rahman’s residence—Rupali Khatun and Mosha Sufia Begum.

Earlier, on Sunday night (February 1), police arrested Shafiqur Rahman, his wife, and the two domestic workers from their home in Uttara, Dhaka. Allegations state that the child was subjected to repeated physical abuse over a long period, prompting the victim’s family to file a case with the police.
