The Bangladesh women’s hockey team has secured its place in the upcoming Asian Games after a 2–1 victory over Hong Kong in their Pool A final match of the Women’s Asian Games qualifiers in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Needing just a single point to confirm qualification for their Asian Games debut in September, Bangladesh went beyond expectations by collecting all three points with a spirited performance.

Nadira Ema and Kona Akhter scored one goal each for Bangladesh, while Law Ka Mun Melissa netted the only goal for Hong Kong.

Hong Kong took an early lead in the opening minute when Melissa finished a well-delivered cross from Lau Pui Sze on the right flank.

However, Bangladesh quickly regrouped and responded with composed build-up play. Ema restored parity with a calm finish, while Kona Akhter later set up the equalizer from the left flank in the 10th minute.

Bangladesh continued to push forward but missed several chances, sending a few attempts wide. Goalkeeper Mohua also made a crucial save in the second quarter to keep the match level.

After the break, Bangladesh looked more organized and created multiple penalty corner opportunities, though they were unable to convert them.

The winning goal came in the 39th minute when Kona Akhter chipped the ball over Hong Kong goalkeeper Wong Ching after a precise pass from Ema.

With this win, Bangladesh finished the group stage with two victories and a draw, topping their pool. They will now face Singapore in the semifinals on Wednesday.
