The inaugural consignment was dispatched on 19 June 2025 to CleanGrid Incorporation, a US-based company, marking the beginning of a four-year export agreement worth over Tk215 crore, according to Radiant officials. Under this deal, Radiant will supply a total of 64.60 megawatts (MW) of solar modules through 2028, with 12.40MW scheduled for delivery in 2025 alone. The solar modules, available in 100Wp and 200Wp configurations, are produced at Radiant’s fully automated facility in Ashulia, Savar. With an annual capacity of 600MW, the plant is considered one of the most advanced in Bangladesh. “This isn’t just a corporate achievement—it’s a national milestone,” said Masudur Rahim, CEO of Radiant Alliance. “We’re demonstrating that ‘Made in Bangladesh’ can compete in the global clean energy market.” Industry experts view the development as a significant step forward for Bangladesh, positioning the country as a rising player in solar manufacturing—a field currently led by China, India, and Vietnam. Another export order of 300MW is reportedly under negotiation for 2026, further reflecting international confidence in local production capabilities. Rahim noted that this is Bangladesh’s first-ever export of domestically manufactured solar PV modules. Although Radiant has over a decade of experience producing for the local solar home systems (SHS) market, it recently launched a new manufacturing line targeting international markets, following a $20 million (approximately Tk220 crore) investment. Radiant's product line ranges from 50Wp to 700Wp PV modules. "This proves Bangladesh can produce export-grade, high-quality renewable energy products," said Golam Baki Masud, General Secretary of the Solar Module Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh (SMMAB). "This was once a dream—we’ve been waiting for this day." Masud added that the current US anti-dumping duties on Chinese solar panels present an opportunity for Bangladeshi manufacturers. Munawar Misbah Moin, President of SMMAB and Managing Director of Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy, called Radiant’s breakthrough highly encouraging for the entire domestic solar industry. “We had previously exported small panels to Nepal, but this is our first step into a large-scale export market.” Despite this progress, local manufacturers face significant challenges. They struggle to compete against low-quality, low-cost imported panels that continue to flood the domestic market due to weak regulatory controls. “There is no proper quality assurance mechanism in place,” said Moin, urging stronger oversight. To strengthen the local solar industry, SMMAB has long advocated for policy reforms, including a mandatory quota for local panels in public-sector solar projects. This would ensure that a portion of solar modules used in government installations—such as rooftop systems in schools, hospitals, and public institutions—come from domestic manufacturers. “We’re not asking for special favors—just a fair policy framework that supports this emerging industry,” Moin added.
