Bangladesh has purchased 25,000 tons of sugar from Pakistan, marking the first such large import from the country in decades. The sugar will arrive at Chittagong port next month, replacing previous imports from India. The purchase is part of Pakistan's plan to export 600,000 tons of sugar this year, including shipments to Central Asia, Thailand, and other regions. Pakistan's sugar industry, with government approval, expects to earn $400-500 million from exports. The international price of sugar reached $530 per ton, and over 80 mills in Pakistan have resumed production.
