The Awami League has called for the creation of a level playing field ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary elections, emphasizing the need for fair and free elections. The party urged authorities to establish a conducive environment for voters and ensure the elections are held in an impartial manner.

In an interview, legal advisor Asif Nazrul speculated that elections might take place by 2025. In response, senior leaders of the Awami League spoke to Kaler Kantho, asserting that elections cannot be determined by an individual’s wishes but will be conducted by the Election Commission (EC). They stressed that while there are no signs of an immediate election, the Awami League is pushing for elections as soon as possible, highlighting that the country cannot thrive without a functioning political system.

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim stated, “Before the elections, the rule of law must be restored. Currently, the country is lacking in human rights, good governance, and justice. Thousands of our leaders' homes have been burned, and indemnity is being granted to murderers. These issues must be addressed, and a level playing field must be established for free and fair elections.”
