If the rent isn't paid by October 15, the party risks losing the office. Local residents are astonished by the long-term non-payment. The office, situated on a 552 square-foot plot in Barguna's Pharmacy Pattt area, has been in use for many years. Although the upazila administration set the rent at 1,950 BDT in July 2021, no payments have been made since 2009, leaving the outstanding amount over 250,000 BDT. Last Sunday, the administration locked the office and posted a notice stating that failure to clear the dues would result in the lease's termination. While the plot was originally designated for residential and commercial use, it has long served as a political office. Awami League leaders Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu and Jahangir Kabir were in charge of finances, but no payments were made. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Shamim Miah confirmed the office was sealed after no responsible party could be located.
