Andaleeve Rahman Partho, MP from Bhola-1, made remarks about the opposition during a parliamentary session on Tuesday, saying he does not understand the lack of goodwill despite his efforts.

To illustrate his point, he used an Urdu phrase—"Tum humse mohabbat karo, hum bewafa nahi karenge”—joking that he chose the language after noticing a book written in Urdu.

Partho also praised opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman for his eloquence, noting that many in Parliament admire his speaking style. However, he pointed out what he described as contradictory positions, referring to past statements attributed to Rahman, including comments about the BNP moving toward fascism, calls for stronger resistance, and remarks on preparing for a mass uprising.

He argued that making such strong statements and later calling for unity reflects a “double standard” that he finds unacceptable.

In response, Shafiqur Rahman addressed the Speaker in a lighthearted manner, saying that being liked by many also means he receives more criticism.
