In Bhola town, at a private clinic named Habib Medical Center on Sadar Road, allegations have arisen that a young mother, Sabiha Akter (18), died along with her unborn child due to medical negligence.

Sabiha was the daughter of Abu Kalam from Dhonia Tulatuli village in Sadar Upazila and the wife of Md. Nahid from Bapta village.

Her husband, Nahid, stated that on Monday (February 2) around 12 PM, Sabiha was admitted to Habib Medical Center for delivery. After an initial examination, the attending nurse informed them that a normal delivery was expected.

Shortly afterward, the nurse administered an injection to Sabiha. Within minutes, she became unresponsive and passed away. Tragically, her unborn child also died before seeing the light of day. Nahid claims that Sabiha’s death was caused by the incorrect injection administered by the nurse.

Following the news of Sabiha’s death, her relatives rushed to the clinic in anger and vandalized the facility. The attending staff fled, leaving the clinic, and police and naval personnel later arrived to control the situation.

Md. Ibrahim, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) in Bhola, stated that authorities went to the scene upon receiving the news and brought the situation under control. The bodies were then recovered and sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. He added that the nurse involved had fled, so she could not be apprehended. However, Mizanur Rahman, associated with the hospital, was brought in for questioning regarding the nurse. Further legal action will be taken based on the family’s complaint.
