Abidur Rahim Abid, a 12-year-old fifth-grade student of Milestone School and College, has finally returned home after undergoing six months of intensive medical treatment following the Uttara plane crash. The update was confirmed by Professor Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, during a press briefing on Wednesday (January 21).

Abid, the son of Abul Kalam Azad from Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, suffered serious injuries in the incident, including burns to 25 percent of his body and damage to his trachea. During his long recovery journey, he underwent a total of 36 surgeries under specialized care.

The tragic accident took place on July 21, 2025, when an Air Force training fighter jet crashed into a two-storey building of Milestone School and College in Uttara. The crash claimed 36 lives and left 124 people injured. A subsequent investigation later revealed that pilot error during takeoff was responsible for the disaster. After half a year of continuous treatment and monitoring, Abid was officially discharged and reunited with his family at their home in Uttara.
