Two individuals have been arrested by police in connection with the gang rape and murder of a schoolgirl in Dhaka. The suspects, Robin and Rabbi Mridha, revealed that they, along with three others, raped and then killed the girl. Based on their information, her body was later found in Hatirjheel. The victim was an eighth-grade student from a school in South Dhaka. She had told her parents she was going shopping on January 16 but never returned.

The girl went missing on January 16, prompting her father to file a general diary at the South Dhaka police station. On January 27, he filed a formal case. Police arrested Robin on January 30 after tracing the girl’s mobile phone number. Rabbi Mridha was arrested after questioning Robin. Both suspects were presented before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and granted a two-day remand for further questioning. During the interrogation, they confessed to the crime.

The girl’s father stated, "My daughter went out in the afternoon but didn’t return by evening. I demand exemplary punishment for all those responsible for my daughter’s death, so no other girl becomes a victim of such a heinous act." The suspects have been sent to jail after providing confessional statements under Section 164. Police continue their search for the other three individuals involved in the crime.
