Seven leaders and activists of the Upazila Chhatra Dal have been arrested for allegedly stealing fish from the pond of Parkol High School in Baraigram, Natore. The incident occurred early Sunday (December 15) in Parkol village of the upazila. Police recovered fishing nets and a battery-powered autovan during the arrest.

The detained individuals include Banpara Chhatra Dal President Sohel Rana, Banpara Municipal Chhatra Dal member Alamgir Hossain (25), Kaushik Ahmed, Jamil Hossain, Raju Ahmed, Tushar Hossain, Sumon Ali, and Amzel Hossain.

Ibrahim Hossain, a guardian member of the school, filed a case with Baraigram Police Station regarding the incident. According to him, the school owns a pond, approximately 50 decimals in size, located beside its playground, containing fish valued at about 5 lakh taka. The theft was reportedly orchestrated by Moslem Uddil, Islam Ali, Anwar Hossain, and others from Parkol village. Around 10-12 individuals arrived at the pond with fishing equipment, transport trucks, vans, and nets in the early hours of Sunday to carry out the theft.

The school's night guard, Amjad Hosne, noticed the activity and raised an alarm, prompting villagers to surround the perpetrators. While most managed to escape, abandoning their nets, fish, and van, seven were apprehended by locals and handed over to the police.
