In Dhaka, 65 trained students are now assisting traffic police to manage congestion across key city areas, working in shifts from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with each shift earning them Tk 500. Launched on November 4 by Labour, Employment, and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, this initiative aims to eventually involve up to 700 students. It follows recent political turmoil, including the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, which led to police station attacks and the temporary absence of law enforcement on the streets. This program, part of a larger effort to ease Dhaka's chronic traffic issues, expects 300-400 more students to join soon.
